Smoothies are a great way to add nutrients and fiber into your daily diet. They are incredibly versatile and by experimenting with different flavours and ingredients, you can customise smoothies to suit your preference.

Incorporating a variety of fruit and vegetables into your smoothies can help give you the essential vitamins and nutrients you need, by also adding vitamin supplements you can help top up in any areas you may be lacking. Be mindful of how much of each vitamin you need on a daily basis, you can read more about that on our vitamin dosage page.

We’ve pulled together three smoothie recipes for you to try that contain all the important nutrients you need. For the recipes you can use fourfive capsules that easily twist open and can be used in the smoothie as a vitamin supplement.

Taking supplements is a great way to get more vitamins and nutrients into your diet, even if you eat healthy. For example, it would take 10 oranges to get the equivalent amount of vitamin-c to one fourfive vitamin-c capsule which includes 500mg. If you have an inadequate diet then taking vitamin supplements can give you the nutritional requirements you’re not getting through your diet.

Vitamin C Smoothie

  • 1 banana
  • 225g mango
  • 2 oranges
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 500mg Vitamin C powder (1 fourfive capsule)
  • 120g water, milk or coconut milk

Add all of the ingredients to your blender and blend until smooth. For added omega-3, antioxidants and fiber, add two tablespoons of fiber (such as flaxseeds) with a few tablespoons of your chosen liquid to help smoothen it out.

As an antioxidant, vitamin c has many benefits for our bodies, including improving skin tone and texture, hydrating the skin and reducing signs of aging. It is also necessary for the growth, development and repair of our bodies, so adding vitamin C into your diet is key.

Vitamin D Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 115g low fat vanilla yogurt
  • 310g chopped pineapple
  • 1 celery stalk
  • 60g fresh spinach
  • 260g ice cubes

Blend the ingredients until your desired consistency is reached and add water if it’s too thick. If you want to make it vegan then swap out the yogurt for soya milk and still get your Vitamin D.

During autumn and winter add Vitamin D supplements to your smoothies to help you get enough Vitamin D as we spend more time indoors during this period.

Known as the ‘sunshine vitamin’, Vitamin D plays an important role in the protection and rejuvenation of our skin. It also keeps bones, teeth and muscles healthy, supporting our immune systems.

Omega 3 Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 2 bananas
  • 225g blueberries
  • 225g non-dairy milk (we recommend coconut or oat)
  • Flax seeds (1.5 tbsp for women, 3 tbsp for men)
  • Handful of ice

Add all of the ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth and creamy. This simple and easy recipe includes flax seeds which provides the Omega-3 your diet may be lacking if you don’t like other sources of Omega-3 such as oily fish. If you’re looking for a way of taking omega-3, fourfive Omega-3 Fish Oil soft gels, each capsule has 1000mg of Omega-3 and can be taken alongside your smoothies.

Omega-3’s benefits include boosting hair growth and reducing hair loss. It can also improve skin health by bolstering your skin’s ability to retain water which can hydrate and smooth dry skin

Nadia Forde’s Green CBD Smoothie Recipe

Nadia Forde is an Irish actor and model and the better half to our very own Dom Day. She has shared how she adds CBD to her morning smoothies with this delicious recipe.

Ingredients:

  • A handful of spinach
  • A small apple
  • About 200ml of orange juice
  • A handful of blueberries
  • A dose of spirulina powder
  • And half a pipette of fourfive pro CBD oil

CBD is a natural plant-based supplement that may help “top-up the endocannabinoid levels and balance your endocannabinoid system (ECS). Our bodies make unique endo-cannabinoids from the fats found in cell membranes. These cannabinoids interact with receptors located around your body and help to regulate a wide range of functions. Poor lifestyle choices, diet, ageing, stress and injury can all take their toll and hinder the body’s ability to regulate endocannabinoid levels, which is where taking CBD may help.
